Cochlear implants work differently than hearing aids. Hearing aids help many people with hearing loss by making sounds louder. However, cochlear implants can be a more effective option for those with more significant hearing loss, specifically moderate to profound hearing loss. For some people, using a hearing aid with severe to profound hearing loss can feel like listening to a loud, badly tuned radio. You may hear parts of what is being said and it may be loud enough, but the words are not clear.
We do all pre-implant testing and post-implant follow-ups and programming at our Newnan and Peachtree City clinics. We partner with a surgeon who performs the procedure at his Atlanta or Alpharetta surgery suite. We are also currently the only cochlear implant certified audiology clinic on the southside and are happy to “adopt you” at our clinic and help you with any services related to your cochlear implant. Candidacy Evaluation
We’ll begin with a series of tests to determine whether a cochlear implant is the right fit for you. This includes reviewing your hearing history, how well your current hearing aids are working, and how clearly you understand speech. We’ll also talk through your lifestyle and hearing goals to make sure you receive the most appropriate recommendation.
Surgery Coordination and Support
If you’re a good candidate, we’ll walk with you through every step. Surgery is performed by a trusted partner in Atlanta or Alpharetta. After the procedure, you’ll return to our clinic for all follow-up programming and adjustments. We’re here to support you locally before and after your implant is activated.
